Ductile Iron Suction Diffuser

Overview

A diffuser suction device can be installed at the inlet of a pump, whether in a horizontal or vertical position, to help achieve a smooth inlet flow. When water flows out of an elbow or short radius pipe, it may generate rotational movement. If this rotational movement continues into the pump, it may have adverse effects. For example, the force at a point in the suction port or impeller eye may be different from the other side, causing imbalance. If the imbalance in the system is too large, seals or other components may need to be replaced too frequently. The vanes in the diffuser suction device can prevent this rotation and diffuse the water into the pump. In addition, by eliminating the turbulence of the medium and protecting the impeller and seals from rapid wear, the diffuser suction device can make the distance from the pipe inlet to the pump shorter.

The suction diffuser can also filter the control circuit in the system. The internal filter screen of the suction diffuser can capture particles in the medium that are larger than the mesh, allowing the remaining liquid to continue flowing through the pipe. Since particles in the medium may damage equipment, suction diffusers are very useful in protecting the system from high maintenance costs.
